Negotiations Update

Sisters and Brothers,

On Wednesday, February 12, 2019, the System Committee presented Union Counter-1 to the Company. Our counter, we hoped, would resolve some outstanding issues that we believed were keeping the contract from being ratified. We also hoped that we would, again, successfully fend off the Company's proposed "Boiler Plate" language that would severely limit the Union's ability to fully represent our membership. 

On Wednesday afternoon, the Company presented what they termed their, "Best and Final" offer. They are effectively trying to buy the language that will prevent the Union from representing membership's interest involving any changes to Medical, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Long Term-Disability Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, Health Care and Dependent Care Spending Accounts and the Employee Assistance Program. Should this language be ratified, the Company will have the ability to change or modify, implement or end any program or plan, at any time, for any reason, throughout the term of the contract, without first bargaining the impact with the Union. "Trust us. We'll do the right thing."

The Company told us they believe this is what you, our members, want. They want to test ratification and believe you will hand over your federally protected right to negotiate benefits in exchange for a bump to your 401K.
